Overview

Join us for the fifth and final section of our winter long distance trail - The Minster Way: Lockington to Beverley. After catching the bus to Lockington, we start in the lovely village of Lockington at the Village Hall at 10am and head out across farms and fields to Scorborough. We walk through Scorborough village, past the church and across the railway line, where we then meet Catchwater Drain. We follow the waterway to Arram and recross the railway line here, where we continue following alongside the train tracks in to Beverley. We enter Beverley from the northern edge, through Molescroft and wind our way in to town (look out for Diagon Alley!) where we finish at the spectacular Beverley Minster.

There are a couple of options for getting to the start of the walk:

Option 1: Meet at Beverley Bus station at 9AM in time to catch the 🚌 9.10am bus to Lockington.

🅿️ There are several nearby pay and display car parks in Beverley, such as:

  • Trinity Lane Car Park (£6.40 All Day)
  • Grovehill Car Park (£4.80 24/H)
  • School Lane Long Stay Car Park (£8 24/H)
  • Flemingate Beverly Multi story (£8 12H)

Please allow plenty of time to park and get to the bus station as we will not be able to wait for you. Other car parks available but many are short stay only, with maximum 2h and 4h stays.

There is a market every Saturday in Beverley, so the more central car parks may be busy and Saturday Market parking is not available, as this is where the market is held.

Option 2: Park in Lockington, either at the Village Hall or on street parking nearby (please be respectful and considerate of residents). Meet at the Village Hall ready to start the walk at 10am. There is a bus back to Lockington from Beverley Bus Station at 4pm.

Public transport:

🚌  8.21am train from Hull gets in to Beverley at 8.34am.

Unfortunately there are no feasible public transport options from York to get to Beverley Bus Station in time for the 9.10am bus to Lockington.

🚻 Toilets: There are public toilets at Beverley Bus Station and Beverley Train Station. There may be an opportunity to use the toilets at Lockington Village Hall if it is open, but please don't rely on this.

🐶 Dogs: Sorry, but this walk is not suitable for dogs.

🍺 Refreshments: Please bring a packed lunch. There are plenty of pubs and cafes for us to enjoy in Beverley at the end of the walk.

Get Your Boots On is a friendly and sociable group aimed at those in their 20s and 30s, and is part of the Ramblers.
