Overview

A lovely 10 mile walk in the Farndale valley, where hopefully we will see some of the famous daffodils out!  Leaving the car park, we head downhill across moorland into woodland and follow the path alongside the River Dove through woodland and fields to Low Mill, where we will hopefully stop for lunch (with the option for hot drinks or extra lunch treats from the Farndale Store!)  We will then continue along the River Dove, hopefully seeing some of the daffodils along the route.  We will pass the 'Daffy Cafe' with an optional stop for cake, before continuing on to Church Houses.

We then follow field paths back to Low Mill, which involves crossing some high 'ladder' stiles - please bear this in mind if bringing your dog.  We pass through the village, then a steep uphill to Harland Moor, with beautiful views of the valley looking back, then follow moorland tracks along the ridge with excellent views (weather permitting) over the valley, back to the cars.

🪧Large gravel parking area on Daleside Road, approximately halfway (1.9 miles) along the road from Gillamoor to Low Mill, on the left side of the road if coming from Gillamoor (or right if from Low Mill). What3Words: minus.including.grad . Nearest postcode is YO62 7JX

🅿️ As the main car park in Low Mill can be popular with visitors this time of year, the meeting point is a large gravel layby halfway along the road from Gillamoor to Low Mill, which will hopefully have plenty of space for parking.

🚻 There are public toilets at Low Mill which we will pass by twice during the walk, and also at the 'Daffy Cafe'.

🚌 Unfortunately there are no public transport options to get to the meeting point.

🥪Please bring a packed lunch.  There are also refreshments available at Farndale Stores and the Daffy Cafe, however depending on timings on the day we may need to stop for lunch earlier than planned so please bring your own lunch.

🐶 Dogs:  Please be aware there are several 'ladder' style stiles over stone walls we will need to cross so you will need to be able to get your dog over these.  Dogs are welcome on lead if you are happy you will be able to lift or otherwise get them over these safely.

🍺 Following the walk, there is a pub we can drive on to in Gillamoor for a well-earned drink and natter!

⚠️ This is an undulating walk on varied terrain including riverside and field paths, moorland and minor roads.  It is likely to be muddy and wet in places and the weather as always may be changeable, please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
