A varied walk with excellent views improved since much of the forest has been harvested. There are various prehistoric and medieval settlements, including burial cairns, one of which is visited.
We start from the small car park, through the gate. From here we make our way along through the woods, this will be muddy so gaiters are advised. Once we leave the wood we make our way along the side of the river, we then start to climb, poles will be an advantage.
The climb is quite steep hence the strenuous grading, once at the top overlooking Port Talbot. From here the remainder will be forest track wide and easy to manoeuvre. There will be some muddy areas to make our way through.
Once we got through the large kissing gate overlooking Port Talbot and head for the Bro Stone with super views above Margram Abbey, we might be lucky to see the deer that roams about the park freely, until we start the descent coming out again to follow the river along the back of Margram Park.
