A 10 mile scenic walk taking in a mixture of rural, urban and industrial landscapes. The walk starts from Moorthorpe train station which is accessible by car, bus and train. Leaving Moorthorpe behind we head through fields to the lovely village of Clayton. Then onwards through a field of Highland cows towards Howell wood, past a Saxon camp and along a ridge way where the views continue. We drop down to walk through the area of the former South Kirkby pit site before returning to the Moorthorpe station and after walk refreshments at the on site Mallard Pub.
The walk features 10 relatively easy stiles and may be muddy in places. Due to livestock and a section of the walk along a main road with no path, please refrain from bringing dogs on this walk.
