Overview

Leaving the car park we cross over Mow Cop Road taking the alleyways up and over Chapel Bank, Hillside Close onto Wood Street and into the car park. Skirting around the castle footpaths and descending to pass the Mow Cop Air Crash Memorial, exiting onto Congleton Road and crossing into Church Lane.

Turning left we follow the footpath down to Biddulph Road, left to Akesmoor Lane then fields and a farm drive to Newpool Road.

Turning right up Towerhill Road taking care until we reach our stile on the left which looks recently cleared (thank you footpath maintenance). Several stiles and horse enclosures bring us to Holly Lane, through a field onto High Street with field paths steadily ascending to Fords Lane at the rear of the Ash Inn.

The walk is 4 miles. 19 stiles with 18 in very good condition and easy to cross.

The walk will be followed by the group AGM in the Ash Inn and then the group members Buffet.
