Overview

BOOKING REQUESTED

A leisurely/moderate walk from Biddulph Grange Country Park, then along the Biddulph Valley Way south, then a gentle ascent via fields and lanes to Mow Cop Castle, a folly ruined castle dating to 1754 with all-round views.  We return heading north along the Gritstone Trail and Staffordshire Way, with more good views and through woodland to the hamlet of Nick i'the Hall, then over fields eastwards back to the car park.  Risk assessment: a short, steepish concrete path with handrail; look out for bicycles on the Biddulph Valley Way; several stiles; some long grass and nettles; possible livestock; stones and treeroots through woods.
