A scenic walk, featuring WWII history, Naphill & Downley Commons, a world renowned music camp, the NT Hughenden estate and three coffin paths. Also a rewarding walk, with mince pies and mulled wine provided at the end! (Gluten-free & alcohol-free options). NB: Please bring your own cup.
The Bon Ami coffee shop is located beside the car park at the start, and opens at 10:00am for those wishing to buy a drink or use the toilet. Non-customers may use the toilet, but please bring a small coin to leave on the counter. I will conduct the briefing at 10:10am with a view to setting off at 10:15 sharp. We will return to the car park for a 20 minute break around two hours later (c. 4.5 miles into the walk). You may wish to have an early lunch at this point, and the cafe is happy to take pre-orders on 07710 885537. Anyone wishing to end their walk here may do so. We will make a second 20 minute stop at Hughenden Manor (c.6.5 miles into the walk). Toilets and a cafe are available here too. Note that sections of the walk have become very wet, muddy and slippy, so waterproof boots are essential. If you have walking poles, you may wish to bring those. Who knows what the weather will bring, so pack for all eventualities please. In terms of difficulty, please note the first loop includes 6-7 stiles, not all in great condition, and there is a fallen tree to pick our way around with care. The second loop is much more straightforward and stile-free. There are short sections of road walking but no major roads.
