A walk worth the drive for moderate walkers to enjoy the varied scenery in this less familiar area. Will be taken at a steady pace to suit group. Although 13 miles, option to short cut and take refreshments in historic Park Gate quay with its stunning views across the Dee estuary to the hills of North Wales whilst rest of group catch up. A further short cut back to the cars along the Wirral Way can reduce the walk to 10 miles. Will include varied scenery and views as we take established paths across open countryside, along ornamental avenues, beside reed beds with bird life and some urban road linkage. We also pass the Old Quay used to export coal. There are no significant climbs but does include a trig with views to the Liverpool skyline. Previously negotiated by an intrepid group through flood water but not considered a problem this time. Lees lane is a concealed signposted minor road left shortly after A540 dual carriageway ends.
