A pleasant ramble from Downton with stretches by the River Avon and good views of the surrounding countryside. The route ascends Barford Down and passes Trafalgar House to cross the Avon and returns along the water meadows. Possiblity of livestock on field paths. Generally easy walking on good paths and quiet roads although some route adjustment may be required following heavy rain or for livestock. Field paths may be muddy. Waterproof footwear with good grip recommended. Two Stiles. Map OS EX 130
This route will be an excellent introduction to Ramblers for new members and those considering joining.
Pub or cafe possible. One stop mid morning en route for refreshments (please bring a drink/snack). Assistance dogs only.
