Meeting time & place: 10.30 at Manchester Piccadilly railway station to catch the 10.45 Northern Rail train to Sheffield, alighting at New Mills Central, due 11.14.

Start time & place: 11.15 after the arrival of the train from Manchester, on the platform at New Mills Central.

Note: walkers are advised to check one of the rail websites such as nationalrail or trainline close to the departure time in case of late changes to the running of the train.

Estimated finish time: No later than 15.30 at Birch Vale to catch the 358 bus, due 15.48, from the Grouse Hotel stop, then changing at New Mills Central to catch the 16.58 Northern Rail train to Piccadilly.

Difficulty: Easy though with a climb up to 1000 ft.

Distance – 6 miles

Train ticket - Day return to New Mills Central.

Car Parking - Torr Top, New Mills, long stay car park (£3.20 for 4+ hours).

Walk Route - Torrs Riverside Park, Whitle, Broadhurst Farm, Briargrove Farm, Hollins Farm, Rowarth, Thornsett Fields Farm, Aspenshaw Hall, Sett Valley Trail, Birch Vale.
