Today’s circular walk will be taking us through the scenic village of Bagnor and Snelsmore Common. Starting at Newbury station, we’ll start off by heading towards St Nicolas’s church before crossing the footbridge and turning left to take us onto the canal path. After a short distance, we’ll cross over the swing bridge to the other side of the canal to leave Newbury and towards the water meadows. We’ll then pass Elmore Abbey before passing Speen and the golf course, where we’ll then walk through the quaint village of Bagnor to get to Snelsmore Common, which is where we’ll have our lunch stop.
After lunch, we’ll leave Snelsmore Common to head along some footpaths that takes us towards the Vodafone HQ and Trinity School, of which we’ll walk past the main entrance of the latter. From here, we’ll then head towards Victoria Park and Newbury Market Square to walk through it back to our finishing point at Newbury station. For those who want to have a pint at the end of the walk, we’ll be stopping off at The Catherine Wheel, which is a short walk from the station.
