After gathering together by the bus stop, we make our way beside the fishermen's wharves, through a recreation ground and steep up through woods to the look out point. Then it's along the top of the cliffs, passing Peacehaven Meridian and eventually reaching the half way mark at Saltdean. Our route then drops down to the promenade and we walk much more easily, passing Rottingdean and reaching the marina. A detour through the marina takes us between boats on our left and apartments on our right. After such buzyness, the way is again quiet except for the wind and the waves; we can see the pier, our objective, in the distance. We return on the 12X from outside the Sea Life Centre.
If you're not arriving by bus. you can leave your car in West Quay Car Park which is just behind the bus stop.
At the time of writing (early January), the toilets at the recreation ground are being refurbished, but there are alternative facilities at Saltdean and Rottindean.
There are opportunities for a shorter walk by catching the 12X bus back at Saltdean (5 miles) or Rottingdean (7 miles).
