An interesting semi-urban walk for the end of the year.
From Nunthorpe rail station we will start walking NE, taking estate roads to a bridge over the A174. From there the route goes through the woods at the Park, near Ormesby Hall. We must cross the main road twice before reaching Stewart Park where we will have a short break (toilet facilities expected to be open). We leave the Park by the east gate and take paths to a tunnel under the A174 then through woods at Low Gill, down steps and across a narrow bridge before walking towards Gypsy Lane station and from there back to the start. Approx 5 miles.
There is a lot of walking through housing estates to try and reduce the muddy sections and to have well lit areas at the end of the walk. If required, the route will be adapted and perhaps shortened to suit the weather conditions on the day.
Walkers are advised to bring a torch at this time of year. Assistance dogs only.
There is a small car park behind the station. You may need to find parking on one of the local streets, please be considerate to local residents.
