Circular walk approx 7 -7.5 miles.
The walk leaves Swainby Church, and heads across a field to Back Lane. We walk up Back Lane to Scarth Nick Farm and follow the bridleway / footpath towards Arncliffe Woods; this section can be very wet under foot and has a slow incline in gradient to 460ft. We leave the woods above Arncliffe Hall and walk past the pretty church of All Saints, Ingleby Arncliffe.
Great care must be taken as we cross the busy A172 and walk into Ingleby Arncliffe. We will hopefully stop here for a quick 10 min break.
After the break we walk out of the village across fields towards Potto Hall. Please note the field paths are not clearly marked across most of this fields sections, and there are some poorly maintained stiles. At Black Horse Lane we join the road and walk towards and along Butchers Lane towards Potto village. We then take a footpath off down the side of some fields and walk back towards Swainby. There is a point where we have to duck under a plastic rope barrier before passing through a gate, so you must be able to duck under. We walk along Swainby Ellers, crossing back over the busy A172 and walk up into the village of Swainby returning to our cars.
There will be a ten minute break. Please feel free to bring a drink/snack to enjoy. Assistance dogs only.
The walk is advertised as a leisurely walk, however there are a number of poorly maintained stiles on this walk, so please be mindful of this. There are also a number of heavy metal gates which require 2 people to lift to open
Care needs to be taken with the 2 crossings of the busy A172
