Overview

From the layby we walk gradually up onto Oldbury Castle, passing the monument and the White Horse.  We then descend towards the Old London Road and take a track which continues around a ridge, passing the Witches Plantation, then returning to Oldbury Castle on a permissive path.  A further permissive path takes us over Calstone Down and to Ranscombe Bottom.  Bridleways then take us back to Quemerford.   Hopefully we will have some lovely views.

Expect stiles and some mud.  Poles may be helpful.  There may be livestock enroute.

Bring refreshments for one stop.  We will be back for lunch.
