Osmaston is a quiet tranquil village on the outskirts of Ashbourne. The circular walk goes through the woodland of Osmaston and Shirley parks before returning through fields and and woods to Osmaston.
The Walk is a lovely, relaxing walk through the park woodlands to the pretty village of Shirley. It then returns alongside Shirley Brook, past an ornamental lake, before climbing gently back to Osmaston.
The intention is to stop for lunch in Shirley where The Saracens Head should be open for lunch.
The route uses estate tracks and field paths and goes through woodland, the park and some fields. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
The route is Easy walking along estate tracks for the first part of the walk. The area around Shirley Brook is muddy at all times of the year but the recent provision of a boardwalk has reduced this.
