This walk takes us South on the Sarson Way across the Wessex Downs where ancient man roamed. At Alton Priors we get a great view of the White Horse and follow the White Horse trail to All Cannings. This next section takes in the Kennet and Avon Canal. We now turn North and cross the Wansdyke to follow the trail with great views of the West Kennet long barrow and indeed the East Kennet long barrow. All in all a fascinating route with plenty of great views and historic interest.

For those members who are happy to car share, we meet first at the Bath Road car park in Chippenham. (“Pay and Display”). Lifts are suggested at £2.80.
