Join us for a gentle 5-mile winter morning walk (there will be no lunch break but bring snacks and water), ideal for stretching the legs, blowing away the January cobwebs and enjoying some familiar paths — plus a few new ones!
We’ll start from Pangbourne Station, heading straight towards the River Thames for a peaceful riverside stretch across Pangbourne Meadow. Winter is a lovely time here, with open views, big skies and a calmer feel along the water.
From the river, we’ll make our way towards Purley-on-Thames, taking in a couple of lesser-used paths along the way — even a few new to the walk leader, which always adds a little sense of adventure. After passing through Purley, we leave the village behind and return to the countryside.
The route then leads us towards Mosshall Wood, before skirting the edge of Sulham Woods, where bare branches and winter light give the woodland a completely different character. From here, we continue on to Further Moore Copse, enjoying quieter paths before the final stretch.
We’ll finish by looping back into Pangbourne and returning to the station, perfectly timed for the rest of the day — and perhaps a well-earned hot drink.
A relaxed, friendly walk at an easy Miles with Smiles pace — wrap up warm, bring your winter layers, and enjoy good company on a crisp January ramble.
