Overview

From the car park we follow bridle paths around the base of Gwaunceste Hill, then link up with the byway heading north, returning to the car park via a small road (tarmac being quite welcome after slithering around in the mud). There are 3 streams to ford, though I managed to keep my feet dry on the recce (8th November).

There are no stiles but one gate to climb over. There is a steep descent to a stream which is quite tricky - my pole was very useful. Although the byway is muddy and rutted, there are plenty of grassy verges to walk on instead. The initial ascent from the car park is not too steep. There is good car parking, but it is fairly limited.
