We are the Taff Ely Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Join me as we walk from Nelson to explore the former Penallta Colliery site, now a beautiful and tranquil park, with a wide variety of wildlife.
From the High Point Observatory we'll have panoramic views of 6 surrounding villages.
We'll pass engraved stones, telling the working life stories of former miners.
We'll also get an opportunity to stand on a bareback horse!
Mostly tarmac paths, with some gradual gravel inclines.

Leave the A470 at the Abercynon (Fiddlers Elbow) roundabout and head to Ystrad Mynach (A472). Go straight through the next roundabout. At 2nd big roundabout take the 3rd exit onto a bypass rd. At next roundabout (end of bypass) go straight over, still on A472. The Rowan Tree Pub layby and carpark is on the left hand side in a short while, park in either.
