Now that the new bypass is completed we can see what effect it has had on the path system. We have not walked these paths since before Covid so new territory for some of you. Starting from the car park and toilets at Penblewen it will be a short walk on the grass verge to Stonyford before heading east to the church in the valley. From here we climb up hill past the ancient Llanddewi Baer hill fort then down hill to connect with the route of the old A40. Passing the outskirts of the village we cross the new bridge over the bypass then head west along a network of footpaths back to Penblewin.
Sorry not suitable for dogs
Please check the Walks Programme the afternoon before the walk for any changes.
There is a mixed terrain on this walk, farm tracks, fields, and some walking on quiet roads. Sections of the route can be very boggy even after a spell of dry weather and some uneven surfaces concealed by long grass. There are also some stiles and gates to negotiate that are in poor condition. There will be an option half way round to shorten the walk and follow the new cycle path back to the car park if any walkers wish to do so.
We may also come across cattle.
