OK so making the most of this fab weather 🌞and hoping it will continue until then, a quick and very informal pop-up walk for Thursday ev (19 June).
Tiggi and I are due to be walking with our lovely blind friend Sue, who some of you will have met, that evening in any event ....so basically just in case anyone might like to join us ?
I'll be picking Sue up in Shanklin just after 5.00pm when she finishes work and then, via Tiggi's, we'll head for Yaverland and look to park on the estate there. No real route as such - we are just planning to walk up Culver cliff... have a drink outside the Culver Haven 🍻 ....maybe a stroll up to the end... admire the views.... and then walk down again ! Always weather permitting 🤞 I am guesstimating it will probably be approx 5.40ish to start walking from Yaverland carpark. Approx 3.5 miles there-and-back. Just a short social stroll. I've not recce'd it specifically for Thurs but have walked it regularly and routinely and not aware any partic hazards beyond the usual and avoid the cliff edge. Be aware it is obvs an uphill walk (and then down again 😊)
Toilets at Yaverland (pay) and at the Culver Haven
TRAVEL
This is a there-and-back walk, starting from Yaverland car park.
By car:
There is a (pay) carpark at Yaverland, but you may be better parking with free on-street parking on the Yaverland estate or elsewhere and walking to the start point (by the entrance to Yaverland car park).
By bus:
Sorry I've not had a chance to check out bus timetables, but the No 8 bus route passes the car park in both directions. Or various bus route serve Sandown and just walk east along the seafront to the start-point at Yaverland car park.
Car share
In the interests of the air, parking, and non-drivers, if anyone is able to offer, or needs, a car share in respect of all or part of the travel for this walk, then please post on WhatsApp group (to join group please message Serena 07564-811690).
Bring a drink - important to keep hydrated if it's hot!

New walkers welcome
If you are new to the Ramblers you can just turn up for any of our walks, unless we specify otherwise. We invite you to come along for three walks as a non-member.
Emergencies
It's very rare that an emergency occurs, but we may need info about
- Any health concerns that you have
- Any emergency contact information
We'd ask you to make sure that we have ready access to this, if needed.
Some people may wish to carry an ICE (in case of emergency) card. We have Ramblers cards for this purpose. Do discuss this subject with your walk leader if it is of interest.
