A fairly leisurely walk across fields and woodland from Powys Castle down to the Montgomery canal and back via Welshpool. There is an ascent near the start but we can take it gradually and enjoy the views. I only found one stile on the recce, most have been replaced with kissing gates.
Bring your own refreshments and plenty of water if is hot. We will have a refreshment stop at Belan Locks and should arrive back at the Castle for a late lunch with plenty of time to visit the gardens, which should be looking at their best. If you have a National Trust Membership, bring your card if you want to visit the castle and gardens.
