Overview

The walk is led by Alan Hart and starts from the smaller Poynton Pool car park off Anglesey Drive, Poynton.

There are 3 choices:

  1. Full walk is 12 miles and starts at 10.00h
  2. First half is 7 miles and starts at 10.00h and ends at approx. 13.15h
  3. Second half is 5 miles and starts at approx. 13.15h from Poynton Pool car park.

We will walk along Poynton Pool then take footpaths towards Bramhall, emerging near Bramhall High School then taking the footpath to Happy Valley alongside Lady Brook to Bramhall Hall at about 11.30am (coffee and toilet break). We will return along the opposite bank of Happy Valley to cross Woodford Road at Mill Brow and emerge through a tunnel on the far side of the A555. From here we will return to the car park after 7 miles (at about 1.15pm) for a lunch stop where those who wish to end the walk can do so.

After lunch the remainder and any extra walkers will continue up to Macclesfield Canal and pass Nelson Pit Museum (where there are public toilets) before returning via Princes Incline to the Anglesey Drive car park after 12 miles (around 3.30pm).
