We have a short, partially paved, road section to leave the village before we turn north towards Nutley Down and Norton's Woods along a very peaceful valley. After a coffee stop in Bedlam Plantation we head east through Ellisfield passing the church and manor house. Heading south we have the first of two sections of the Three Castles Path to Bradley stopping for lunch in Down Woods along the way. After a short extension, to avoid a lengthy road section, we head west via Lower Wield and across farmland back to the church at Preston Candover and the short stretch through the village back to the start.
The going underfoot is generally on good well maintained tracks. There are a couple of potentially muddy woodland path plus the first section of the Three Castles Path has obviously suffered from recent flooding and now resembles a dry stone river bed which can be tricky to navigate. Crossing the farmland towards the end of the walk is on well defined paths but does include two very long fields one of which is oilseed rape. The are a number of gates and the one stile is also at the very end of the walk.
This walk is limited to 16 so please use the link to book.
Please bring sufficient food and drink for the day.
