Overview

A scenic 10 miles passing cornfields, pheasants and some very handsome sheep along the Shepherd's Trail. Follow this Shepherd to a cosy country pub with log fire and fine refreshments.

You will need to take snacks and drink. Walking boots or walking wellies are recommended, and walking poles are optional.

Toilets are available at the start, and there is a pub at the end. Accessible by public transport, car parking available and car sharing may be available. The number 12 bus back to Newport runs on a Sunday at 13.35, 15.05 and 15.55, also 17.25 though some journeys are longer than others.

New walkers welcome. If you are new to the Ramblers you can just turn up for any of our walks, unless we specify otherwise.  We invite you to come along for three walks as a non-member.

Depending on the weather, consider suitable, clothing, footwear, walking poles, sun cream, drinks, and food. Watch out for ticks and remove ASAP. If you are unsure about your ability to undertake this walk, please contact the walks leader. If you need to leave the walking group, please ensure you inform the leader or back marker.

Please note that there may be short sections of road walking, so please walk in a single file and take good care.
