A lovely, leisurely, almost flat as a pancake walk most of which is on man made surfaces. There are no stiles and only a quarter of a mile stretch where we might encounter some real mud.
Starting in the car park at the RSPB reserve at Pulborough Brooks we quickly head out onto a quiet road which takes us into Parham park. Here we will have a shortish break before leaving the park and walking across the Southdown glider club air field and returning to the RSPB centre. Parham park is home to a large number of deer and we would be unlucky if we didn't see any.
We will have a 10 to 15 minute break so bring something to drink and a snack / picnic. There are loos at the start of the walk in the RSPB visitor centre, which opens at 10.00am.
Parking for RSPB members is free, otherwise it's £3 for all day.
Those familiar with the area will know that the path immediately we exit the glider club can become very muddy. For this reason I would recommend a walking pole.
We usually enjoy coffee and cake etc from the RSPB restaurant at the end of the walk.
