Overview

A walk along the banks of the Medina.

There will be photo opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts and the talented amateur historians amongst you, for there is to much to see and admire along the rivers edge. Stunning views of swans and little egrets are possible at Dodnor Nature reserve as we pass through, and old boat-wrecks along the riverside as we progress, including mud in places, in an area renowned for boat building and nature. This is a ramble where nature meets industry and co-exists. The walk uses the Squirrel trail as its spine and includes loops towards the rivers edge and back.

Flat walk. No stiles. Maybe some mud.

This is a linear walk. We start in Newport and finish in West Cowes.

By car:

Either park at the end of the walk in Cowes and get a No 1 bus back to the start for 10.00am start, or get a No 1 bus back at the end of the walk.

By bus:

Newport bus station is served by buses from all directions, and the meeting point at the Lord Louis Library is right by the bus station.
