Overview

From Sutton Reservoir we walk through woods and fields to Sutton and then along Rossen Dale before ascending along a footpath to the Buxton Road and Sutton Common/Croker Hill.

From here on a clear day there are fantastic 360 degree views including Welsh hills, White Peak District, Manchester and beyond.

Then we follow the Gritstone Trail past the BT mast on Croker Hill and descend towards Gawsworth Common.

Here we walk along a stream through a beautiful wooded valley before following the towpath of the Macclesfield Canal for a short distance and returning to the start via Sutton Reservoir.

Great autumn colours along this varied walk with only one stile, an easy stone one! Mostly very good paths but walking boots recommended!

Please notify walk leader if going direct to start.
