Classic Chiltern walk below the escarpment, via one of the most picturesque villages in England. From the car park we will take the Ridgeway up to Clipper Down, before a long descent past Duncombe Farm to Aldbury, skirting Moneybury Hill. From Aldbury we will follow the Hertfordshire Way to Tring Station. Continuing to Marshcroft Lane, we will then begin a steady and gentle climb up to rejoin the Ridgeway, which we will then follow over Pitstone Hill back to the start. Bring refreshments for one stop.
Generally good paths and steady but not very steep climbs. No stiles. If the ground is wet, exposed chalk paths in places will be slippery, so bring poles if you use them. If it is hot bring plenty of water. Lovely long views from the Clipper Down and the sections on the Ridgeway.
Pitstone Hill car park off Stocks Road, Aldbury. Stocks Road is best approached from the B488, south-east of Ivinghoe village.
