This walk begins at the pay and display carpark at Ripley. We then walk past the castle and it's grounds along good tracks and across fields towards the village of Hampsthwaite. Leaving the village we walk along a section of road. This may be busy with cars so we need to take care. We soon leave the road and cross a field and walk along side the river Nidd. We then reach the village of Birstwith. We then follow the river again along a good track where we will climb a series of fields approx accent 80 metres to the village of Burnt Yates, where we can stop for lunch. We will then walk to the village of Shaw Mills, leaving Shaw Mills we will follow some very quiet country roads back to the B6165 road. We will the cross and follow the fields and tracks back to Ripley.
Some of the tracks and fields may be muddy so please wear walking boots. Please bring waterproofs and extra layers There is a couple of stiles on this walk. Bring lunch and snacks.
There are options for refreshments after the walk at the Pub or cafe.
The park Costs £3.50 for up to 6 hours and there are toliets are the start.
There is a bus to Ripley from Harrogate (number 36) that's gets in at 9.57.
