Join us for this pleasant walk through green areas close to Bristol city centre. We'll start in Clifton at the suspension bridge, proceed to Leigh Woods, then steeply down to the River Avon. There are classic views of Clifton and Hotwells as we walk towards the Floating Harbour. We shall then walk to Ashton Court and stop at the mansion for a short break with more classic views, this time of the city and Dundry Hill. We shall then walk uphill through the park and return to the Suspension Bridge.
The paths are generally firm and well surfaced. Being close to the city there is an element of walking on pavements. There is a steep hill down through Leigh Woods with some tricky parts and a fairly steep, grassy climb through Ashton Court. Please come prepared depending on recent weather.
We shall stop for a short break at about 2/3 distance at Ashton Court Mansion. The cafe and toilets should be open. Alternatively many of us choose to bring our own hot drink and snack for this time.
No after-walk visit to a pub or cafe is planned but there are plenty of options in Clifton.
