Overview

Along the river and across fields to Whaddon Church. Then, using the  Packhorse Bridge,  across the Avon and on to Broughton Gifford Church. Stop at Great Chalfied Manor for a lunch break and/or a chance to see the gardens. At Holt  past the former Pump House,  Tannery and Glove Factory and round the outside of The Courts Garden.  Finishing with Holt Church, Staverton Weir, Mill and Bridge.
The walk is almost completely flat and on footpaths.  The ground is uneven for short distances and could be muddy and slippery if wet. Walking poles may be advisable. The pace will be leisurely to encourage those who think seven miles is too much for them.  There are 9 stiles, fields with cattle, sheep, horses. Dogs will have to be on leads for a lot of the walk.  Bring a snack  and/or  lunch. Lunch may be available in Holt at the Tollgate Inn.
