This walk is a sightseeing walk through the Royal Parks in central London. It links the parks of St James's, Hyde park , and Kensington gardens . We will pass close to Buckingham Palace, St James Palace, and Kensington Palace, mostly walking through parkland and away from traffic. We will walk along by the Serpentine in Hyde Park, and stop for refreshments and toilets there, (or walkers can bring their own refreshments and find a nearby bench)
Then we will walk through Kensington gardens , close by Kensington Palace (where Queen Victoria was born, and her statue is outside) and finish at Kensington underground station, where District and Circle line underground trains will take us back to Embankment for Charing Cross station. There is very little gradient involved in the walking, and it is all on hard surfaced paths or pavements. There are some road crossings , involving traffic lights, that we will negotiate together. The walk is 4.5 miles in total.
The walk goes through a popular sightseeing area which may be busy, although I am hoping that it won't be too busy in late September. There are geese, swans and also pelicans , mostly on or just around the water.
