Overview

Surrey Heath Ramblers members only as places are restricted to 24. Book a space by emailing secretary@surreyheathramblers.org.uk on first come first served basis. See below for info on transport. Note start time of 10.30 am. 

A leisurely walk starting from Salisbury station past the clock tower and river onto boardwalk through the nature reserve alongside the river Avon. With views towards Old Sarum we return to the town centre aiming to visit the Christmas Tree Festival at St Thomas’ Church for 15-20 minutes around noon. We will see the market cross, the market place and Guildhall before weaving our way through the walls to Salisbury Cathedral close around 1.30 pm. Option to visit the Cathedral (book own ticket £11 pp last entry 3 pm), eat at the cafe or make own arrangements. We will be taking people back to the train station around 2.30/3.00 pm.

Train time from Fleet station is 9.04 changing at Basingstoke, arriving Salisbury 10.18 am.  Return trains depart 14.27/14.44/15.27/15.44 etc all changing at Basingstoke. For those wishing to drive, the best carpark is Central Long Stay Mill Stream Approach SP1 3SL. Costs £1.90 all day Sunday with 5-7 min walk to station, payable toilets near river. Advise method of transport when booking a place. **if there are replacement buses due to engineering works this walk will be rescheduled until 2026**.
