A scenic easy waterside LINEAR walk from Emsworth to Chidham.
Starting at the shore end of Beach Road by Western Parade in Emsworth, we walk through the pretty village of Emsworth, past Emsworth Marina along the Sussex Border path to follow the waters edge path at Southbourne. At Chidham we go inland to have a lunch stop at St. Marys Church. We then walk along grassy footpaths by orchards and fields to reach the waters edge again on the far side of Chidham. Then past the thatched cottages and along the final field up to the main road where we catch the 700 bus at the Newells Lane stop.
The walk is flat with 2 stiles. Toilet facilities by the central car park in Emsworth which we pass. There are normally plenty of parking spaces along Beach Road. The no. 700 bus can be caught at Portsmouth Hard Interchange and Havant bus station. The return bus will stop in Emsworth centre where there is a choice of a Teashop/cafes and Pubs including The Coal Exchange Pub with garden. And short walk back to Beach Road for drivers.
