Overview

This is a level walk with pretty villages, interesting countryside and pretty shoreline views across Chichester Harbour and beyond. There will be the opportunity to see a variety of birds and fauna, as well as the Isle of Wight, Hayling Island, Thorney Island and Bosham Hoe, subject to the weather conditions.

There are toilets at West Wittering at our morning coffee stop, which will be slightly later than usual to allow for use of these and the opportunity to buy coffee & cake at the Landing cafe. Lunch will be at West Itchenor (also slightly later) to again offer toilet facilities, superb views across the channel and lots of benches by the harbourside.

If it has been raining, there are some areas that could be muddy but, in the main, the paths are good.

Car share, if possible.

No dogs.

St James Church, Church Lane, Birdham (off A286 Chichester to Wittering road). There is a layby outside the church, which has parking for about 10 cars (some of which are reserved). If full, continue past the church on the one-way road, to Crooked Lane, where there is street parking to the the Left and Right of the junction. The walk will begin by going from the church towards Westlands Lane, very close to Crooked Lane.
