See out the old year with a great walk in the attractive rolling landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds.
Starting from the pretty village of Millington we walk along the road to Millington Wood before we start our ascent up to Millington Heights, and then following the course of the old Roman Road to Deep Dale. Deep Dale is a beautiful valley which we will circumnavigate to take full advantage of the views. Leaving Deep Dale, we climb to Bishop Wilton Wold and take a permissive path high above the village below. This affords fine views over the Vale of York and towards the Yorkshire Dales. The permissive path then joins the Minster Way as we head towards the village of Great Givendale and its pretty church before descending into the lovely valley of Given Dale, before another ascent and descent back into Millington.
There are several ascents and descents on this walk, and the walk is locally graded Moderate Plus, as there is 1300ft of ascent and some rough tracks, particularly in access land at Deep Dale.
There is a great pub in Millington and of course the opportunity for a quick drink to prepare for the New Year!
