We are the Romsey Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A varied walk across open farmland and downland; through woodlands and with significant sections along the River Itchen. Great views from the higher points along the way as well as in the river valley. There are 5 stiles on this walk. Some are quite high but all are stable. The walk ends with a short, sharp climb at Shawford Down. Please bring a picnic lunch.
Romsey Rapids rear car park adjacent to the Romsey Town Football Club pitch fence for possible car-share. If a lift is required, please contact the walk leader at least 24 hours in advance.
Shawford Down top car park. If travelling north through Otterbourne, continue through the village. The car park is immediately on the right after Shepherds Lane (signposted to Compton Down). Please ignore the postcode for the final part of the journey as it will take you into a housing estate.
