Overview

Starting at the top of Shawford Down, the walk drops down into Shawford to join the path heading south along the River Itchen.  Leaving the Itchen to climb through Otterbourne Park Wood and then on to the wonderful Cranbury Park with its array of beautiful trees.  On then to Hursley for the picnic lunch before returning across open farmland through Compton Down and back to the start.  There are no stiles on the route.  There will be some wet and muddy sections at this time of year.
