We are the Doncaster Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
An 11 mile leisurely walk from Shireoaks following a pretty section of the Chesterfield Canal through some twists and turns and up several locks to Kiveton Park then to Harthill for lunch with a pub stop. The route back is across farmland and an aerodrome.
Take M18 to M1 (South). Leave at Junction 31 and take A57 to Worksop. After about a mile take the 2nd exit at the Todwick roundabout to stay on the A57. After nearly 5 miles, take the 3rd exit to stay on the A57. After nearly half a mile, take the 3rd exit at the roundabout onto Shireoaks Common. After a mile, at the church, follow the road round to the left onto Shireoaks Road (following the boundary wall of the church). After nearly half a mile turn left onto Marina Drive (at the Shireoaks Colliery memorial). Park on Marina Drive. Meet opposite the Shireoaks Colliery memorial
