Starting at Silverhill Wood Country Park ( the site of the old slag heap) we ascend to the highest point in Nottinghamshire with (hopefully) a wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. This is the site of a bronze statue in memory of countless miners who worked the local pits. Our circular route then follows the old railway lines which linked the mines at Silverhill, Tibshelf and Pleasley.
Please be aware that these trails are also much used by cyclists so any dogs need to be under control. The going is mainly good on cinder paths and hard trails but there could still be mud at this time of year so come prepared.
Weather permitting, there will be coffee and lunch stops with seating and toilets!
