Overview

This Lincolnshire walk takes us from Nocton to the hamlet of Wasps Nest alongside ancient protected woodland, farmland and the ancient Car Dyke. Usually we may expect to see wildflowers and extensive views across fenland on a clear day. The route is fairly flat with some gentle inclines but no stiles. Walking surfaces include quiet roads, farm tracks and grass paths that might be muddy following wet weather.

There are no public toilet or cafe facilities on this walk. You might like to bring your own provisions for a short refreshment stop and a lunch stop.

Please register for this walk on Newark Ramblers website where you will also find details of our car share scheme. Places are limited to 15 on this walk.

Car parking is near the cricket clubhouse. From the B1202 on the south-western outskirts of the village turn onto Old Sleaford Road. Then turn sharp left at a stone-built house named Top Lodge which will be the first house on the left. Follow the tree-lined single track road to the grassy (sometimes muddy) car park which is clearly signed, adjacent to a dog-walking field and cricket club. If arriving by public transport, you can alight in the village and take a short cut to the start point through the Bridle Way.
