Overview

A repeat of Sunday's good walk for Winter. This time though we will not be inviting dogs.

Starting at Silverhill Wood Country Park ( the site of the old slag heap) we ascend to the highest point in Nottinghamshire with (hopefully) a wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. This is the site of a bronze statue in memory of countless miners who worked the local pits. Our circular route then follows the old railway lines which linked the mines at Silverhill, Tibshelf and Pleasley.

The going is mainly good on cinder paths and hard trails but there could still be mud at this time of year so come prepared. Please be aware also that these trails are used by cyclists

Weather permitting, there will be coffee and lunch stops with seating and toilets!

Please register on Newark Ramblers website where you will also find details of our car share scheme. As the car park is only small please make every effort to car share. The number of walkers will be restricted to 14.
