This is an 11 mile circular walk along the river, through woodland, with views across Vale of Pickering and the North York Moors and takes in the historic site of the Roman camp at Cawthorn
Setting off from Sinnington the walk follows well established paths along the river and passes through woodland towards Cropton. Having made the ascent to Cropton, we head towards Cawthorn, taking in the views and history, before returning to Sinnington via Wrelton.
Most of the route is along good established paths with easy walking with just one significant ascent. There is a short section of road walking. On the return, the woodland section has been badly affected by recent storms with a number of fallen trees. There is also a series of stiles on the last 1 mile of the walk, as we approach Sinnington.
If you want a walk with rivers, woodland, countryside views and some roman history thrown in, this is the one for you!
