This is a 9 mile circular walk. Starting from the village of Newton upon Rawcliffe, we head along the Tabular Hills path which has lovely views over Newton Dale. We then follow a bridleway that takes us through woodland and open farmland towards Newbridge. This is where I've planned our lunch stop as it's the perfect location to spot a steam train 🚂! After lunch we pass through the works of a limestone quarry and a rifle range, then head up a short but steep hill into more woodland. We emerge onto open farmland again and follow the final 3 miles back to the village along field paths and tracks.
🅿️ There is on-street parking around the village green, please park with consideration for the local residents and consider car sharing if possible.
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch
🐶 Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times – please bear in mind that we will cross farmland which may have livestock
🥾 This walk is likely to be muddy, please wear boots and appropriate clothing
🍺 Afterwards we can have a drink at the White Swan pub
