Overview

The walk starts from the car park opposite The Snug at the entrance to Snelsmore Common. Crossing the Common and the A34 (by bridge!) to reach Donnington Castle, where there should be time to have a look at the new information boards provided by English Heritage. We then re-cross the A34 (again by bridge!), dropping down to Bagnor before taking the footpath to the weir just below Jannaways, where we cross the Boxford Road, climbing to the edge of Stockcross and then descending Snake Lane to reach Bagnor Manor via Woodspeen.  A gradual ascent takes us to Boxford Common and on to Borough Hill, Lower Farm, and Winterbourne Church. We return to the car park via Pebble Hill, Bussock Hill House and Black Ditch.

Please note that this an undulating walk.
