Overview

Join us for one day of walking or two during our weekend break to the South Downs.

The walk on Sunday takes us up Hindover Hill, known locally as the High and Over. From the top, we’ll enjoy beautiful views over the winding Cuckmere River and out to sea. Then after heading along some scenic countryside paths, with great views over the nearby valley and vineyard, we’ll arrive at the historic St Andrew’s Church, Bishopstone. We will stop here for lunch, where there are many benches to sit on and where you can also have a look around the quaint eighth century church.

Henceforth we’ll return to the coast, whereupon we will walk along it before a short uphill stroll to reach Seaford Head. There are great views across the beautiful Seven Sisters cliffs from this location. Then it’s back down the other side of Seaford Head to Cuckmere Haven beach, where they’ll be the chance to have a paddle to cool off.

Then it’s just a short walk along the river before we get back to our cars and the walk is over.

Please bring packed lunch. Sandwiches, cold drinks and snacks usually available from the Seven Sisters Country Park Visitor Centre, where the walk begins.

A shorter, self-navigable route is also available on this day. Scroll down for details.

Dogs are welcome, but it is your responsibility to keep control of them.

Anyone who would like to is more than welcome to join us for dinner in the large Beachy Head pub, just a short drive away, after the walk.
