Another lovely stretch of the South Downs Way, continuing our journey using a coach drop off and pick up. Rolling chalk Hills, ancient woodlands and more expansive views. Generally moderate with some steep climbs on well marked paths. Passing Annington Hill, Steyning Bowl and Chanctonbury Hill, the latter where history, myth, and landscape deeply intertwine, hear more on that on the coach.
The coach drop off to start the walk will be at the location at the end of the previous SDW leg 5 at approximately 11.00am. The coach will depart from The Shire Horse Pub on the A4, promptly at 9am. Please aim to arrive in plenty of time so you can change into your boots, pay for the trip and choose your evening meal (if you are eating afterwards), before getting on the coach. The cost is £25pp, payable by card (preferred), cash or cheque. Parking is available, however please park on the far right, away from the pub. Make sure you bring a packed lunch, sufficient to drink during the day, as we don’t pass any shops, and suitable clothing for the weather.
Note the 11mile walk finish time is estimated to be 16:30pm, then there will be an approx 2 hour return coach journey to arrive back at the Shire Horse pub at approx 18:30pm.
The start time is the departure of the coach from the Shire Horse pub, the 2hour journey will mean an approx walk start of 11.00am
