Overview

***start time changed to 10.30 am***

Our dog friendly walk includes footpaths, streets, canal towpaths, and fields, including some muddy sections.

We cross Bathampton Down, then follow the Kennet and Avon canal from Bathampton to Sydney Gardens, looking for signs of spring such as spring flowers, tree buds forming, and birds singing. We follow a short section of the River Avon, then return to the canal before the steep ascent, via Bathwick Fields and North Road, back to the university. There is an option to get a bus at Widcombe to shorten the walk and avoid the steep final ascent.

Walking boots advisable, and you may find walking poles useful.

Bring a drink, and a light picnic lunch, for short stops during the walk. Please bring your ICE (In Case of Emergency) card, or ask the leader for one.

Maybe join us for refreshments afterwards in the Lime Tree Refectory, which is open to the public.
